AFT’s Weingarten on Biden Administration’s Proposed Title IX Rule

WASHINGTON—American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten issued the following statement after the Department of Education proposed a rule to prohibit schools from categorically banning transgender students from participating in sports:

“We welcome this guidance. It protects transgender students from politically motivated blanket bans on their participation in sports from numerous states. And it proposes a practical road map for schools and colleges to craft athletic policies and criteria for male and female teams consistent with Title IX.”
