WASHINGTON—American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten issued the following statement after the Florida Board of Education’s expansion of the “Don’t Say Gay” law:
“Today’s expansion of the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ law is a targeted attack on the state’s most vulnerable students, who are already experiencing higher rates of bullying and self-harm. Shame on the Florida Board of Education for doing the bidding of a governor and his political ambitions rather than protecting the children of the state.”
