Workers' Memorial Day of Action

Good Jobs. Safe Jobs. NOW. That is the demand of Workers Memorial Day, observed annually by the labor movement on April 28, which marks the anniversary of the creation of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Despite significant improvements in working conditions, workplace illnesses, injuries and death remain far too common.

A call to action toolkit

We have put together a Workers' Memorial Day of Action Toolkit with factsheets, templates, checklists and graphics to assist you in taking action.

Randi Weingarten will be joined by Rep. Jamie Raskin for vigil honoring workers

In commemoration for Workers Memorial Day today, the AFT is holding a vigil outside the national office in Washington, DC. AFT President Randi Weingarten will speak about the workers whose lives were lost at work—including those who were fighting COVID-19—as a renewed commitment to safe workplaces and the places unions have in that fight. Rep. Jamie Raskin (Maryland), will join Weingarten to mark this day. The livestream link will be available on the AFT Facebook page at 2pm.
